For the student apprehensive about summer:
As I pack to leave college for the summer, my dorm room feels bare, matching the empty feeling within my chest. Although I am ready to not have hours worth of homework, I am not ready to be hours away from my best friends. The lectures felt slow, but the months flew by too fast.
Regardless of what your summer looks like, maybe you feel apprehensive about the inevitable change. In the words of Ecclesiastes 3, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens… a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance.”
There is a time for the school year to begin, and a time for the school year to end. As our circumstances shift, may we remember the Lord is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). He has a purpose for every season. My prayer for the summer is through the changing of the season and the changing of our circumstances, we will be content. May we be thankful for friends to miss and memories to hold on to.
