For the Student Preparing to Go Back to School.
For the student preparing to go back to school:
As we near the end of the summer, like many other college students, I am preparing for the school year to begin. Soon, as a flood of new students fills campus, we will also be flooded with upcoming assignments and responsibilities.
In the Old Testament, the Lord called a man named Noah to prepare for a flood by building an ark. The Lord promised to keep Noah safe if he obeyed His command. Although “the waters prevailed and increased greatly on the earth, the ark floated on the face of the waters'' (Genesis 6:18). The floodwaters destroyed every living thing, except Noah and those with him in the ark.
May our preparation for the school year include more than writing our schedules in a planner and gathering needed supplies. Like Noah prepared for the flood by building a stronghold of safety, we can prepare for the currents of college by building a stronger relationship with the Lord, our refuge in the storm.
For when we go through deep waters, He will be with us (Isaiah 43:2), helping us endure the weight of the waves, the weight of our assignments, and the weight of our schedules.
