one nation under God.

With recent events in our nation, I felt compelled to write and share this:

Beneath our skin, there is no division.

Red blood flows through blue veins,

working together without protest,

cooperating to keep us alive.

The issue of division isn’t in our blood,

but the way we cut off circulation

to perspectives that challenge our beliefs.

Like our biological survival,

the survival of a democracy 

will require both red and blue

to remember that we are of 

one body and one blood,

not filled with hate, but with love.
