powerful prayer: a poem

the most powerful prayer

i have ever prayed

didn’t have eloquent words

nor was perfectly phrased.

it was a cry at my lowest,

in a posture of humility on my knees,

a recognition of my weakness and need.

“God, it hurts so bad.”

i didn’t have any other words, only tears,

yet i felt the Lord’s presence so near.

i finally felt fully seen and fully known

accepting my inability to heal on my own.

when i stopped trying to have it all together

and came to Him falling apart

is when the Lord mended my broken heart.
