the carpenter. a poem.

before i came to Jesus,

i was waiting to have it all together.

striving to hide all that was broken within me,

I refused His invitation of intimacy.

then, He extended His hand once again,

callused from years of Carpentry.

His hardened hands softened my heart,

as i realized He delights in fixing

all that is falling apart.

For the King above all Kings

chose the craft of carpentry

to build and create, repair and restore.

He finds joy in taking our broken pieces

and making us more beautiful than before.
